It all began a long time ago in 1992 ... a young mum, who was fascinated by the magic performed by her childrens' swimming teacher, was asked to help out at the pool. The young mum became a pool assistant, and one thing led to another ..... Some months later, she found herself on an ASA Teacher course. Many ASA qualifications, and a few years later, she moved to Norfolk and formed her own swim school. JH2O Swim School was born in September 1997. JH2O has grown steadily over the years, with it's founder now leading a team of highly experienced, dedicated teachers and assistants who are very friendly, patient and make learning to swim fun!
At JH2O we are passionate about teaching and our aim is to do the best we can to help you to be the best swimmer you can be. We are proud to be a Swim England registered Swimschool and we follow the Swim England Learn To Swim Pathway swim scheme. Our classes are structured in Swim England's Learn To Swim scheme's "Stages". There are the Duckling and other awards designed for younger children and classes leading to Stage 1 through to Stage 10 awards for older children. Full details of the Swim England Learn To Swim scheme can be found on the link on Swim England's website: www.swimming.org/learntoswim. There is an overview of the awards scheme, it's criteria, aims and objectives, and it highlights what the JH2O team are teaching our pupils in each of the Stages. We also award additional motivational and progress certificates during the term, along with reward stickers, which the children love!
Our teachers monitor individual pupil's progress every week of the term and pupils receive their swimming awards at the end of each term, based on this continuous assessment process, so there is no pressure for pupils to perform well on one particular "test week". With safety our priority, we also teach water safety awareness and personal survival skills. These skills are included in our weekly lessons, so that our pupils are familiar with the Water Safety Code and know how to stay safe, and how to help themselves or others in an emergency.
Apart from their ASA/Swim England Swimming Teacher qualifications, our teachers hold additional qualifications in many aquatic disciplines, including: Adult & Child Water Activities, Disabilities, Synchronized Swimming, Aquafit, Coaching and also RLSS Rookie Lifeguard.
Our teachers are DBS checked to an Enhanced Disclosure standard and hold the Royal Lifesaving Society NRASTC (National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers & Coaches) qualification or RLSS NPLQ (National Pool Lifeguard Qualification) which is updated every two years. We are all IOS (Institute of Swimming) members and are also insured with the IOS.
This is JH2O Swim School. We look forward to getting to know YOU soon!
